The organ is back!

Last Sunday, May 1, we offered our Eucharist and later Choral Evensong without our organ. The blowers that bring life to the pipes were not functioning, and all our best efforts changed the situation.

Turns out the problem was an underground transformer a block away that failed after the vault in which it’s installed was flooded by heavy rain. Technicians from WE Energies worked on the problem for four days, ultimately bringing in a crane to hoist the failed equipment from a maintenance hole at the intersection of Ogden and Astor, and replace it. Organist and choirmaster Joseph Kucharski tested the organ late Wednesday afternoon, and confirmed that we’re back in business.

Thank God it didn’t rain hard on Easter Day!
